Contemporary Fibre Art and Textile Art will take center stage in New York with Follow the Thread, a festival spread throughout the city with a dense program of appointments, including exhibitions, installations, events, meetings, and conferences that will lead from art to sustainability, to made in Italy, to fashion.
Established by ArteMorbida Textile Arts Magazine, art installations will open their doors at flag stores and showrooms of international brands.
Fibers, threads and textiles as a language to narrate contemporaneity through art will be the theme of the group exhibition Threads of Our Time, curated by Barbara Pavan, at the Chelsea Market Gallery Space, with works by Lanfranco Aceti, Elham M. Aghili, Angelica Bergamini, Michela Cavagna, Megan Klim, Laura Mega, F. Patera and A. Sbra Perego, Eva Petric, Michael Sylvan Robinson and Judy Rushin-Knopf.
The works will be in dialogue with the project Crossing Threads by Giovanna Cariello and Alessandro Falce, Ludovica Gilardi, Martina Venditti of the Accademia di Bologna, curated by Elisabetta Zanelli with Elisa Maola; and with a presentation of works by graduates of the Parsons MFA Textiles Program curated by Preeti Gopinath and Gabi Asfour.
