Chelsea Market Reprises Its Holiday Jingle:
Every year, the Holiday Season brings a series of temporary shopping fairs that pop up around the city in places like Union Square and Columbus Circle. The drawbacks of these become evident on a morning like today's when it is 19? outside.
Thankfully, there is a climate controlled option for those who are looking for alternatives to the usual gift resources. Last Friday, The Chelsea Market brought back Jingle (billed as a "Shopping Extravaganza") for a repeat performance. It's a collection of independent vendors whose goods range from the "loving hands at home" craft varieties to somewhat more sophisticated fare.
Standouts include Motel Deluxe's offbeat stationery, Elizabeth Gillett's elegant scarves and knits and Australian Scent's natural, hypoallergenic beaut products. in addition, some vendors like Gauge NYC offer opportunities to create personalized gifts. In addition, the Market is promising music, theater, revolving art exhibits, poetry readings and dance to keep you and easily bored shopping companions entertained. For your convenience, part of Chelsea Market's new renovations include a mid-block entrance on 15th street directly into the gift fair for those of you who either don't have the patience to wind your way through the market or simply don't want to be tempted by a Fat Witch brownie along the way.
