We are passionate about cheese and our knowledgeable staff can guide you through our mouthwatering breadth of choices. 
Our mission is to showcase quality American cheeses and to support the craftsmen and farms behind them. The cheeses we offer are all handmade, of a limited supply and shipped directly to Lucy's Whey, thus ensuring complexity of palette, high quality and freshness. Every artisan cheese presents a distinctive flavor profile and special textural characteristics, reflecting the animal, region and ingenuity of the cheesemaker. Each cheese has personality!
The care and mastery that goes into our cheeses inspires us to educate and excite our customers about the wonderful world of artisanal and farmstead cheesemaking. By committing to sourcing our cheese directly from the producers, we also ensure a legacy of creativity and diversity in American cheese. We aim, thereby, to advocate how small scale dairy production contributes to farmland stewardship, biodiversity, and rural economic sustainability. We support the intrinsic relationship between taste, terroir and healthy communities.
lucy's whey also sells other delicious specialty products such as condiments and crackers for cheese - all American made. Lucy's Whey is owned by Lucy Kazickas, who helped to open the first lucy's whey in East Hampton, NY in 2007. The Chelsea Market store is managed by Amy Thompson, who brings more then 10 years of experience in the food world, including previous work with Murray's Cheese, Saxelby Cheesemongers, Basis Farm to Chef, and Consider Bardwell Farm.
